MEP Cyclones are often fitted to radial manifolds which are designed to evenly distribute the feed and collect the overflow and underflow streams from the cyclones.
Cyclone manifolds or clusters are used when processing high volumes and finer cut sizes are required. They are used to recover solids down to 35 microns and save material reporting to lagoons.
- Radial manifolds include a feed distributor, overflow and underflow collection launders and a support structure.
- The cyclones are radially mounted around a central feed pot for
an even distribution of slurry. - Each cyclone is fitted with a pressure gauge or sensor and a knife
gate valve for isolation. - A flanged cover is provided allowing access to the feed distributor for inspection.
- The feed distributor, cover plate, overflow and underflow collection launders are protected with the same abrasion resistant lining as that used on the cyclones.
- The overflow and underflow collection launders are concentric around the central feed pipe and provide efficient collection and discharge of slurries.
- The launders are designed to minimise splashing.
The assembly incorporates a structural steel frame supporting the feed distributor, the cyclones, overflow and underflow collection launders.
All components are flanged using standard PN10 flanges and fixed with metric fasteners.
Where possible, cyclone radial manifolds are shipped complete, however some large units are partially dismantled after factory assembly and supplied in sections. Assembly at site requires bolting only, with no site welding or additional lining required.

Other Product Benefits
- Easy Installation
- Compact design
- Low wear
- Simple Maintenance
- Consistent and accurate classification.
- Eliminates unwanted fines losses through production of
saleable products. - Reduction of flocculant consumption.
- Increased life of void space / reduced pond management.
Fines recovery units can be supplied complete with a dewatering
screen and stockpile conveyor.
Typical Applications
Pictured here is an eight-way radial manifold supplied to Cemex to recover fine sand from the effluent streams of a Dual Sands Plant and two stage cyclone dewatering towers.
The MEP system of fines recovery was installed to optimise solids recovery thus reducing solids reporting to the lagoon.
